A political watchdog group in Solomon Islands is urging Taiwan to stop giving what it calls loose cash to members of parliament as it is contributing to instability.
The Chairman of Transparency Solomon Islands (TSI), Bob Pollard, says that Taiwan has already demonstrated willingness to improve the disbursement of the Rural Constituency Development Fund (RCDF).But Mr Pollard says more needs to be done to ensure that the funds reach its intended target.
Mr Pollard added that there is a growing need to audit aid funds as assistance continue to grow through budgetary support from organizations' like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The recent call by TSI follows the unseating of Danny Philip as Prime Minister after allegations of misuse of funds provided by Taiwan.
