The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services (METS) has issued a strong wind warning this morning.

The strong wind warning was issued for waters surrounding Rennell and Bellona. Makira and Temotu province.

The METS service says a northerly wind flow persists over Solomon Islands.

“Expect northeast to northwest winds to reach 15 to 25 knots, with moderate to rough southerly swells,” the statement reads.

The statement also says to expect poor visibility when it rains, with thunderstorms expected in the areas mentioned.

“People in those areas should take precautionary measures as such strong winds and weather conditions have the potential to impact lives and properties.

“Sea travelers are urged to consider safety actions as such conditions can produce dangerous sells which can be dangerous for small boats,” the METS says.
