The First Secretary for the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Ken Lai, received a Solomon Islands Silver Medal for his service in the country.

His Excellency the Governor General, Sir Nathaniel Waena, presented the medal to Mr. Lai, at the Government House Thursday last week.

Mr. Lai, who has completed his term in office, will be returning to Taiwan to take up his new assignment as a Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in India.

The Governor General said that the Silver Medal is in recognition and appreciation for what Mr. Lai has done for the government and people of Solomon Islands.

Sir Nathaniel said that Mr. Lai has made a great contribution in terms of the development of Solomon Islands.

"Mr. Lai has portrayed work loyalty in his long and dedicated services to Solomon Islands in the implementation of the [past] government's rural development and the Bottom Up Approach policy," the Governor General said.
