The governments of Solomon Islands and Fiji have jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, which will pave the way for the two countries to assist each other in various areas.

Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Shanel and his Fijian counterpart, Ratu Inoke Kabuabola jointly signed the MOU yesterday.

Mr Shanel describes the signing of the MOU as consolidating the bilateral relationship of the two countries.

He says the relationship between Fiji and Solomon Islands had been established many years ago.

Mr Shanel says the signing of the MOU provides the opportunity to explore trade and share technical help between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Fiji's Interim Foreign Minister, Ratu Inoke says Fiji wants to help Pacific Island countries in trade, health, labor mobility, education and others.
