A Solomon Islander has been awarded with the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation (CFTC) Programme.

The Commonwealth Secretariat, through the CFTC Programme, offered Mr. Francis William Rea the award to undertake a two year Diploma Course in Youth Development at Kukum Campus of the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education in Honiara between 2007 and 2008.

Assistant Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Alfred Mane Lovanitila, who is in-charge of Europe and International Cooperation Branch at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, External Trade and Immigration congratulated Mr. Rea for having won the CFTC Award. Mr. Lovanitila also acts as the CFTC point of contact (POC).

Mr. Lovanitila urged him to capitalize on the opportunity provided by the Commonwealth Secretariat under the CFTC, to successfully complete the program and be an agent of change by helping other youths to acquire necessary skills and savvy to become active participants in the development of the country.

Meanwhile, Mr. Rea thanked the Commonwealth Secretariat for the award and vows to do his best to successfully complete the program.

Mr. Rea also thanked Mr. Lovanitila for his invaluable assistance in successfully facilitating his application for the CFTC Award to enable him to pursue his study programme.
