Following ongoing consultation with the Solomon Islands Government, Solomon Airlines will suspend all scheduled international passenger flights effective immediately, in support of the Government’s COVID 19 action plan.

"We are working with the Solomon Islands Government and all stakeholders in protecting the health and welfare of Solomon Islands people and we apologise for any inconvenience that this necessary change will cause, ” said Solomon Airlines CEO Brett Gebers.

Effective from tomorrow, the airline’s scheduled international flights are suspended for a period of several weeks, to be reviewed on a weekly basis.

“Our intention is to resume scheduled international operations as soon as it is safe to do so, however at this stage it is anticipated that these services may be suspended through April and May,” Mr Gebers said.

Mr Gebers confirmed that in consultation with the Government, the option to operate special charter and cargo flights remained, to continue to support the wellbeing of the Solomon Islands people.

Solomon Airlines domestic flights within the Solomon Islands will continue to operate according to the airlines recently reduced schedule. The airline has introduced a new fee waiver policy to provide greater flexibility for customers who are uncertain about their booked travel in the coming months.

The policy allows a one-time, change fee waiver for those passengers already ticketed and booked for travel up to and including 31 July 2020. A copy of this policy and the latest Solomon Airlines Travel Advice is available on our website https://www.flysolomons.com
