Solomon Islands will host the 2023 Games and it will be the first time for Solomon Islands to host the Pacific Games.

PNG has already set a very high standard when it hosted the 2015 Pacific Games.

“The infrastructures and world class facilities ensured the 2015 Pacific Games in PNG was one of the best ever hosted. On the contrary we start from scratch,” Prime Minister Sogavare said.

Sogavare said Honiara has no existing infrastructure that can host the games and the
Government is reliant on partnerships with countries and donors to assist in building proper facilities to host and deliver the games in 2023.

“On this note, on behalf of the government and the people of Solomon Islands, I wish to convey my sincere thanks and gratitude to the government of Papua New Guinea for your pledge to provide K$40m towards the Games facilities,” Sogavare said.
