The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is once again urging all road users, including both pedestrians and drivers, to take extra precautions when using public roads, following a rise in traffic-related fatalities.

Pedestrians are reminded to carefully observe both lanes for oncoming vehicles before crossing any road.

Meanwhile, drivers are strongly advised to reduce their speed to below 50 meters when approaching zebra crossings.

Vehicle owners must ensure their vehicles are roadworthy. This includes having a valid vehicle license and ensuring the driver holds a valid driving license. Failing to meet these requirements is a violation of traffic laws.

Drivers are also reminded never to operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, distractions such as using mobile phones or engaging in arguments while driving must be avoided to maintain full concentration on the road.

Vehicle owners are further cautioned against using fake vehicle licenses or other fraudulent documentation. This is a breach of the Traffic Act and can lead to prosecution.

The RSIPF emphasizes that compliance with these regulations is essential for the safety of all road users.
