Yesterday saw the end of the two week-long music festival being held at town ground.

The music festival organised by the Restoration of the Music Industry of Solomon Islands (ROMISI) was supposed to be a weeklong event but according to the president of ROMISI, Rocky Europe Misitana, the show was extended for another week to allow artists who did not perform in the first week to do so.

Hundreds of bands took part in the music festival in different musical categories including rock, reggae, island and pop music. The standard displayed by various groups speaks well of the extent to which Solomon Islands music has evolved in the past few years.

At the show ground yesterday, hundreds of people converged onto town ground to witness some of the best bands in the country wrapping up the two weeks of music festival. Romisi is also planning to stage a similar event next year and is encouraging musicians to start practicing for the next event.
