This week, Solomon Islanders working under the Pacific Australia Labor Mobility (PALM) initiative in Brisbane were honored with a visit from Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele.

The visit to the PALM workers was part of the Prime Minister’s state visit to Australia. The workers at Primo Foods were delighted to receive the Prime Minister and his delegation.

During the visit, Prime Minister Manele acknowledged the Australian government for the PALM initiative, describing it as a win-win situation for both Australia and the Solomon Islands. He emphasized that the Solomon Islands greatly benefit from the arrangement through remittances.

The Prime Minister expressed deep gratitude to Primo Foods for hosting Solomon Islanders in their factory. Primo Foods Chief Operating Officer Jamie Eastley welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation, leading them on a tour of the factory after a brief welcome and presentation of gifts.

During the tour, the Prime Minister gained first-hand insight into the production of bacon, hams, and small goods at Primo Foods. He was also greeted by several Solomon Islanders who were on shift at the time of the visit.

The visit concluded with a tasting session of Primo Foods’ bacon, hams, and small goods. Following his visit to Brisbane, Prime Minister Manele departed for Canberra, where he was scheduled to visit Australia’s Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HCL).
