Prime Minister Dr. Derek Sikua is on a brief visit to Auki, Malaita Province.
It has been reported that Prime Minister Sikua left this morning for Auki.The visit is his first official tour outside of Honiara since becoming Prime Minister on December 20th 2007.
During his brief stop-over, Prime Minister is to hold discussion with the Province's executive.
Meanwhile, the Sikua government has reduced political appointees' salaries.
It was reported that salaries will be paid within the public service scale.
Unlike the former administration, who paid more than 3.5 million dollars per annum for its 20 political appointees, the current government will be paying the most senior political appointee on the scale of permanent secretaries.
