The Commodities Export and Marketing Authority, CEMA, maintains a positive outlook for copra and cocoa this year despite recent decreases in the international prices.

CEMA's General Manager, Pitakia Pelomo, says the recent decrease in overseas prices for cocoa and copra was a normal action taken by major companies at the beginning of an event to wait and see.

Mr. Pelomo says that last month, international prices for copra and cocoa have started to increase, an indication that the country's copra and cocoa buyers have consolidated.

He says CEMA believes the current prices will be maintained or increased during the year as the commodities are widely used in the world and are in great demand.

Mr Pelomo assures cocoa and copra producers that prices have started to pick up since last month for both commodities.
