Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) and Royal Papua New Guinea Police Constabulary (RPNGC) have raided a homebrew (kwaso) and marijuana hub at Karaina settlement.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Police, Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “The raid happened on 5 May 2022, at about 4 and 5pm with the assistance from the RPNGC.”
PPC Robo says, “White River Police officers and RPNGC make the snap operation for illegal kwaso and marijuana activities at the Karaina settlement, White River area in West of Honiara.
“The snap operation raid was successfully done with the assistance and support from the concerned elders, leaders and Chiefs in the community as they are really concerned over the ongoing illegal kwaso and marijuana activities.
“Elders are concerned that it will increase the anti-social behaviours, influence the youths and will affect their lives which will lead them to have negative impact on the illegal materials and substances.”
No arrests were made as the suspects already fled the targeted location when police arrived. Twenty 1.5 mineral bottles containing kwaso were confiscated and marijuana plants were uprooted.
