The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is enforcing order on emergency powers on COVID-19 Requirements in Honiara emergency zone starting from 6am today 22 January 2022.
The order was gazetted by the Solomon Islands Government under Emergency powers Act (Cap. 11) Emergency powers (COVID-19) (No. 3) Regulations 2021 Emergency powers (COVID-19) (Honiara Emergency Zone) (Requirements) Order 2022
Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “Public within the emergency zone are required to adhere and follow this order.”
Commissioner Mangau says, “Person in the emergency zone must not leave their residence without face mask, all persons must practice social distance, wash hands with soap and water regularly and use hand sanitizer.”
Casinos, restaurants, bars and all businesses where foods and alcohol beverages is served to remain closed. Business may operate, persons must not enter the business premises unless he or she is vaccinated and carries with them a vaccination certificate and a valid ID for verification.
A person must not operate, drive or be in a taxi if there is more than four people inside. A person must not operate, drive or be on a bus if there is more than 2 passengers sitting in each row of seats on the bus.
Person must not be on board a bus or taxi unless the person is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and carries on his or her vaccination certificate
Mr. Mangau says, “Police are supporting the Ministry of Health and other government agencies as we experienced increased in COVID-19 community transmission in Honiara.”
“It is an Order and police will arrest and charge any person who breach it under emergency powers. Let us work together with the Government in the fight against Covid-19,” says Commissioner Mangau.
