A Parliamentary Opposition member is among three men charged for conspiracy for unlawful purpose.

The three accused appeared in an open Honiara Magistrates court yesterday morning before Magistrate Christopher Vass charged with three counts of conspiracy for unlawful purpose and two charges for misconduct in office.

An application for a name suppression order by the defence was successful, which prevents publishing the names of all three accused or any information that could reveal their identity until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
The defence said adverse media reporting on one of the defendants who is a member of the Opposition group could impact on a no confidence motion that will be moved in Parliament against the government.

The court had ordered names of all three accused be suppressed, and for media to refrain from publishing any information that could have an impact on the Opposition No Confidence Motion. The case has been adjourned until Monday next week.
