"Pacific Blue's flight is a milestone in the development of the Solomon Islands tourism industry."

These were the words of Sir Tommy Chan at the function to mark Pacific Blue's inaugural flight to the Solomon Islands at the Honiara Hotel on Tuesday night.

Together with the support from the Solomon Islands Tourism Industry Association (SITIA), Sir Chan congratulated the Pacific Blue team for finally coming to the 'Hapi Isles'.

Sir Chan who also owns Honiara Hotel and is one of the major players in the tourism sector. He stated that Pacific Blue's flight will have an immediate impact on the country's economy.

"Not only would we have the benefit of cheaper airfares, but Solomon Islands undoubtedly will experience a boost in tourism arrivals never seen before," stated Sir Chan.

Sir Chan has pledged that he will continue to remind the Solomon Islands government of the need to do more in the tourism sector.
