An orientation workshop is currently underway for the Solomon Islands Planned Parenthood Association (SIPPA) staff, volunteers and board.

The three days workshop, set on the theme, "Orientation of SIPPA Board, Staff and Volunteers", is a follow up on a workshop conducted earlier in the first quarter of the year.

Acting SIPPA Director, Mrs. Grace Fafale, told Solomon Times that the orientation is mainly for staff, volunteers and the board to familiarize themselves with the policies of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and to know their individual roles in SIPPA.

Mrs. Fafale said that the initiative to conduct such workshop was first raised to the Board because of the need for members of SIPPA to know and understand the policies of the IPPF.

"With the election of a new board this year, SIPPA is now getting active and hopefully following this orientation, we will understand more our individual roles to play in our jobs, and what we are to do to work together," said Mrs. Fafale.

Amongst the Board members of SIPPA was the Representative of International Planned Parenthood Association Federation (IPPF), Fiji, Mrs. Iemaina Havea.

"In this workshop, I'm going to make sure that this orientation will help the board, staff and volunteers, especially, to understand the key to managing and governing," says Mrs. Havea.
