Nominations for Mayor of Honiara City Council is likely to be opened Monday next week.

This follows the ousting of former Mayor Alfred Maetia in a motion of no confidence by seven councillors Wednesday.

Formalities that had not been executed has delayed nominations that was anticipated to have opened yesterday.

The two groups are yet to nominate their candidate.

Care-taker Mayor, Jim Sevesi revealed that "someone [is] in mind from the groups of the former Mayor".

"We are still considering that and we also like to hear from the other side, who would be their candidate," Mr. Sevesi told SIBC news.
