The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) announces one new award category to be added to the Business Excellence Awards (BEA) which returns for the 7th time this year and will take place on Saturday 20th November at the Coral Sea Resort in Honiara.
The 2021 BEA is again aimed at celebrating, acknowledging and honoring all that is best in Solomon Islands business. SICCI acknowledges that it has not been an easy two years thus the aim to be proud of being resilient and keeping on in these difficult times, which brings us to the BEA theme for this year, ‘Challenges to Opportunities in a COVID-19 World’.
Looking again to increase entrant numbers and to reach the wider business community, SICCI has decided to add one new award category for the 2021 BEA. The new award category is the ‘Inclusion, Diversity and Local Talent Business of the Year’ award.
“This new award focuses on business and State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) that implement excellence in the delivery of inclusion and diversity in their workplace and work culture with strong emphasis on women in leadership roles and talent pipeline, pro-women policies and programs to empower and/or best intervention and program to identify and develop local talent preparing them for leadership roles,” Ms. Namoi Kaluae, Chair of the 2021 BEA Working Committee and SICCI Board member, said.
To nominate for this award, businesses were required to provide a detailed explanation on what steps they have initiated to improve their service or operation, outline briefly what impacts they have had in the private sector or business community and describe how human resource management strategies support their organisation’s focus on service excellence.
Therefore in 2021, businesses will be honoured at the award ceremony in the following categories: Small Business of the Year Award, Medium Business of the Year Award, Large Business of the Year Award, YESCI Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Inclusion & Diversity and Local Diversity, Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Agri Business of the Year Award, Contribution to Sustainable Development and Community Award, Innovation & Technology Award and the Prime Minister's Business Excellence Award.
The awards ceremony provides the perfect platform for business owners to take a fresh look at their operation and have it assessed by experts. Nominations for awards has closed on Friday 5th November and new panel of independent experts have been selected to judge the awards.
SICCI is pleased to once again be partnering with the Solomon Islands Government to host this prestigious event. The Chamber also acknowledges members of the private sector and businesses who have come onboard as sponsors to make this year’s event possible.
