The Ministry of Development Planning and Aid Coordination will today officially launch the country's National Development Strategy.

A statement from the Ministry of Development Planning and Aid Coordination explains that the 2011 to 2020 strategy sets out the national road map for the achievement of the aspirations of all development partners, provincial governments, private sector and non-government organizations.

"The chief target of the strategy is to build a better coordination mechanism particularly for reform in accordance with government's policy translation and implementation document," the ministry says in a statement.

"It outlines a framework for efficient resource allocation geared towards development programmes that seeks to improve the livelihoods of all people of Solomon Islands."

The ministry says that one of the key issues that the document seeks to address is what has often been referred to as an enabling environment.

"This means removing obstacles that might hinder the implementation of government programmes and projects."
