With the current drug and medicine shortage at the National Referral Hospital (NRH), Australia has again stepped in by flying in much-needed medicine.
This would be the second air delivery of essential medical drugs and consumables that arrived in Honiara from Australia.
The consignment includes 181 boxes, which included:
- Antibiotics
- IV fluids
- Ventolin
- Anti-inflammatory medicines
- Child oxygen masks
- Microscope slides
- Oral rehydration salts and more
The availability of good quality medical supplies is the responsibility of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) and is essential for saving lives, reducing suffering, and improving health outcomes.
Australia says they are pleased to support and partner with the MHMS to meet the immediate need for medical supplies while MHMS-procured supplies make their way to the country.
