Police Commissioner, Mr. Mostyn Mangau has disputed claims that the police recruitment process was compromised.
Responding to journalists in his weekly press conference, Mangau says recruitment to enter into the police force is clear.
"Our recruitment procedure clearly states the needed requirements”, he says.
He says claims that police handpicked certain individuals are not true.
"After finalization of the applicants list, then those picked were required to do certain tests. This includes academic and interview tests."
The Police Commissioner says interested individuals must also undertake a physical test.
"Applicants without any criminal records and whoever passes all required tests are then confirmed to join our team," Mangau says.
Mangau says he welcomes any concerns and asks anyone with a complaint on the recruitment process to visit their office.
Mangau says the process for police recruitment is very competitive, with no room for favouritism or bias.
