FASANOC president, Vidhya Lakhan, remains president of the Pacific Games Council following his re-election this week.

Lakhan won the majority votes of 27 countries over the 20 votes of Samoa's Vui Tapasu Leung Wai. This will see Lakhan head the Games Council for a further four years.

According to Fiji's daily online newspaper, The Fiji Times Online, Lakhan saw the re-election as recognition of the work he and his team have done in the last four years and there was a lot more to be done. He cited the setting up of a Council office in New Caledonia and embarking on sponsorship and marketing programs as pending work.

The XIII South Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa, is now into its second week with New Caledonia leading the medal tally at 66 gold medals.
