The Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) conducted a three-day training session for nineteen teachers from four schools under the Guadalcanal Education Authority.
The training focused on Microsoft Word 2016 and was aimed at teachers from Guadalcanal Province, particularly those near Honiara.
Participants included teachers from Marara, Nguvia, Titinge, and Lunga schools. The IPAM ICT Unit facilitated this scheduled training.
In his closing remarks, IPAM Director Solomon Manea emphasized the crucial role teachers play in educating citizens both in the province and nationwide. He noted that such training sessions are essential for helping teachers perform their duties efficiently and effectively and encouraged the attendees to apply the knowledge and skills they had gained.
Mr. Gabriel Karahu, Deputy Headmaster of St. Mary Primary School, spoke on behalf of the participants, expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Public Service for organizing the training through IPAM. He highlighted the growing use of computers in schools and the importance of such training in enhancing teachers' competencies in using computers for work and communication. He also advocated for the expansion of these training sessions to benefit more teachers.
IPAM continues to offer a variety of role-based training programs in leadership, supervisory development, corporate learning, induction, and ICT skills and knowledge, as outlined in its annual prospectus.
