With thousands flocking to the Lawson Tama car park to witness the Solo Idols 2007 finale show at the Multipurpose Hall, the successful night event paid off well for one lucky contestant.

Although all on stage sounded too good to bow out, the blend of Celine Dion with a touch of Shania Twain voiced the winner of the competition.

Dubbed "Solomon Islands' Mariah Carey", the young show diva, Faye Indu, pulled the crowd's favour right from the first song through to the elimination round.

Speaking to Solomon Times, the humbled singing sensation, Ms. Indu said that after all the hard work she has put herself through in preparation for the Solo Idols final, "I've reaped what I sow".

A satisfied Ms. Indu said singing has always been "a relaxing thing for me and I don't see it as a competition".

She adds singing as her all-time favorite pastime "helps me get over stress".

The Solomon Idol 2007 winner, Ms. Indu reasoned that her wining the idol is because of her Christian beliefs, and, "I just want to thank the Lord for the gift He has given to me."

She said the buzz for her was being linked to international artists such as Shania Twain, Celine Dion and the likes in her style of singing.

Ms. Indu encourages youths who want to sing, especially girls, to "come out and don't be afraid to show the hidden potential in the music industry in Solomon islands."
