The Ministry of Health and Medical services (MHMS) is calling on those who are due to receive their second COVID-19 vaccine to do so soon.

The MHMS says that failure to do so will incur huge losses as some of the vaccines will be expiring soon.

“At this time of high global demand with limited supplies of these vaccines around the world this will be a waste. We have reserved these vaccines specifically for people who were to be given their 2nd dose.

“This is crucial because there is still no evidence from studies so far on the effectiveness of the vaccines administered beyond the recommended time- frame,” the Ministry of Health said in a prepared statement.

The MHMS says that although they have observed small amounts of people with some side effects after the vaccines, scientific studies so far have shown that the side effects following the 2nd dose of the vaccine are less and milder.

The MHMS says that it is important that the decision to come forward to take the vaccine and become fully vaccinated is done so that we protect our children who at this stage not eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccines.
