Acting Prime Minister Fred Fono says Cabinet will this week deliberate on a paper about the licensed guns that were destroyed after the arrival of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands in 2003.

Minister of Police and National Security Samuel Manetoali will table the paper in Cabinet.

Mr. Fono says the paper will outline how the gun owners will be compensated, when payments can be made and how much the Government will pay.

He says Mr Manetoali submitted the paper to Cabinet recently but had to retrieve it because it does not identify the gun owners.

Mr. Fono says the paper will be re-submitted to Cabinet on Thursday as the gun owners are identified

He says some of the claims are excessive.

But Mr. Fono says the Ministry of Police is putting together the details about the guns and the question of affordability will determine the price the Government will pay for the destroyed guns.
