The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) recently launched the Whole of Educator Professional Development Framework (WEPD) and new primary schools English and Mathematics curriculum materials.
The Framework and new materials aim to lead improved teaching and learning in Solomon Islands.
The WEPD is a long-term plan to support teachers, school leaders and others within the education sector, to meet the unique and diverse needs of learners in 21st century Solomon Islands communities and schools.
Enhancing professional development for teachers and school leaders is proven to lead to better student achievement and learning and this is underpinned by the WEPD.
MEHRD developed the Framework over the past two (2) years and is currently developing 28 curriculum resource materials, facilitated by Cognition Education.
The WEPD is supported by the Governments of Australia, New Zealand and Solomon Islands through the Solomon Islands Education Sector Support Program.
