Government is confident that it will bring about fundamental changes to the current political landscape, to ensure that there is greater stability in the future.
Government insiders say that there is strong political will and support for its proposed constitutional and legislative reforms for the advancement of governance issues and political stability in the country.Chairman of the proposed Political Party Integrity Bill Committee, Special Secretary to the Prime Minister John Keniapasia also told SIBC News that the issue of political will to drive forward those proposed changes is a non issue for the C-NURA government.
He however said the only challenge is to do it right and properly.
Mr Keniapasia said it is encouraging to see that the country's leaders are open about the proposed reforms.
He said government will seek to bring the Political Party Integrity Bill to Parliament in July this year, whilst the other constitutional and legislative reforms will be tabled before the term of the present government lapses next year.
Mr Keniapasia however said changes to the present electoral system would take a much longer period because putting in place a new system to replace the current first past the post requires a lot of time, work, coordination and educational awareness.
He said this may look impossible but government will push these changes through and that work has to start in consultation with relevant ministries.
