The government has reaffirmed its commitment to support Jimmy Lusibaea's legal team who will be seeking to appeal the High Court's two year nine month sentence handed down yesterday by Justice David Cameron.

Prime Minister's top advisor, Andrew Muaki says according to section 51 of the constitution as long as Mr. Lusibaea appeals his case, Speaker of Parliament can extend his term as North Malaita MP to no more than 150 days.

He highlighted that according to the constitution Mr. Lusibaea has 30 days in which he can appeal his case.

Mr. Muaki says until and unless Mr. Lusibaea and his lawyer have exhausted all legal processes in place, Mr. Lusibaea is still a member of parliament.

He also reaffirmed the government will stand by North Malaita Member of Parliament, Jimmy Lusibaea.
