The government is rescheduling the working hours for public servants across the country to work an extra hour starting on November 1 to December 4, 2007.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Service, Ishmael Avui, issued the cabinet instruction in a circular today.

Mr Avui said starting on the 1st of November, all public servants are required to work one extra hour from 4:30 pm to 5:30pm to off-set the three working days in December (27th, 28th and 31st) for the pre-new year holiday period.

"The official hours of work for all public servants has now been extended from 8:00am to 5:30pm with the usual lunch break from 12:00 to 1:00pm," Mr Avui said.

The government had requested all heads of ministries to ensure this cabinet instruction is successfully implemented.
