A European Union and World Vision team visited project sites in Small Ngella, Central Province, Solomon Islands.
The team also included EU Ambassador to the Pacific and Solomon Islands His Excellency Sujiro Seam.
The two-day visit from 6th to 7th June was very informative as the team dialogued with community members to hear the project's impacts on their lives.
On the first day, the team visited Mburungia and Longapolo. At Mburungia, HE Sujiro and WVSI Operations Manager Irene Marbun handed the community a fish storage facility. It was a fantastic opportunity for Ambassador Sujiro to engage with community members and listen to their experiences.
Later in the day, the team arrived at the dynamic community of Longapolo, where they witnessed an inspiring savings meeting hosted by the saving club.
This meeting utilized World Vision's innovative Savings for Transformation (S4T) model, promoting financial inclusion and driving positive change within the community.
Witnessing firsthand the positive changes brought about by the Central Islands Livelihood Improvement Project, EU representatives were inspired by the transformation occurring in local communities.
On the final day, the team was privileged to observe the Mothers Union, a key implementing partner of the project, conduct positive parenting training at Tavulea Community for facilitators.
The knowledge through the training would enable the facilitators to conduct similar training for parents in their communities.
Through EU support, World Vision Solomon Islands (WVSI) is implementing a Central Islands Province Livelihoods Improvement Project (CLIP).
The project's goal is to sustain economic and social resilience to the impact of COVID-19 and improve the well-being of families. The project is implemented in ten communities in Small Ngella, with a population of approximately 3,701.
