The Enhanced Consultative Mechanism (ECM) between the Solomon Islands Government (SIG), the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) and the Pacific Islands Forum yesterday held its sixth meeting in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The ECM serves an important purpose by strengthening relations and confidence between the SIG and RAMSI, and in addressing specific issues of concern in this relationship.

Together with the Triumvirate, the ECM gives support to the Forum Ministerial Standing Committee (FMSC) that was established to provide oversight and governance to RAMSI operations.

The 6th meeting of the ECM will receive updates on the work of RAMSI from the Triumvirate, including on the status of implementation of the SIG-RAMSI Partnership Framework, as well as the 2009 RAMSI Annual Perfomance Report. The ECM is also expected to be briefed by the Solomon Islands Government on the Foreign Relations Committee (FRC) Review of RAMSI.

The meeting also serves as the preparatory meeting for the 4th Forum Ministerial Standing Committee meeting that will be held on Friday, 9 April 2010 in Honiara.

The ECM meeting will be attended by senior officials from Australia, Niue, Papua New Guinea, RAMSI and the Forum Secretariat.
