There is need to revive and encourage cultural activities in schools.

Director of the Division of Culture within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Robert Au, stressed on the need to revive cultural activities in secondary schools "like in the eighties."

He highlighted on the importance of having his Division working closely with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources to encourages schools on the idea.

Mr. Au said it is important for responsible authorities to take on the initiative to encourage cultural syllabus in schools around the Solomons.

He said a proposal will be submitted to the Permanent Secretary of the two ministries and if endorsed will pave the way for cultural syllabus to be taught in schools around the country.

"We need to bring back to life our cultural values to what it was before," Mr. Au said.
