The Truth and Reconciliation Commission will gather stories of both victims and perpetrators during the ethnic tension period.

Vice Chairman of the National Selection Committee, Father Sam Ata, says that information gathered will be used to encourage reconciliation.

He says the method of conducting hearings will be decided on by the Truth and Reconciliation Commissioners when the commission is formed.

Father Ata says the information gathered during the hearing will not be used against people concerned and their families in any court in Solomon Islands.

He says the Commission will tailor its aims and activities to suit Solomon Islands' conditions.

Father Ata says the work of the Commission will be very challenging and holds high responsibility to get a true picture of what had happened to both the victims and the perpetrators.
