The first Chinese Inspection team from the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, BIAD, is currently in the country to assess the infrastructure requirements of four national projects and meet with relevant authorities about plans to kick-off project constructions.
The Chinese Comprehensive Investigation Team led by Chef de Mission, Mr Liang Congzhong met with government officials in the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday to brief them on their mission in the country.
The team will assess the four priority projects namely the 2023 Pacific games stadium, National Hospital, Solomon Islands National University of Solomon Islands, SINU, and the Solomon Water Treatment Project.
The team seeks to know from the government which projects need to urgently begin construction.
The Inspection team will also meet with relevant authorities responsible for implementation of the projects and make site visits to the construction sites.
Chef de Mission Liang Congzhong said the visit and information collected is part of the necessary steps required in the lead up to the construction of the projects.
He said construction of the projects by China will be some of the initial benefits of the SIG-China relationship.
The BIAD team consists of Chef de Mission Liang Congzhong - Civil engineer, Architect Sun Yanliang, Mechanical and Electrical Engineer Li Hong, Experts in Sports Technology Li Zhishi and Interpreter Peng Lei.
The Beijing Institute of Architect Design, BIAD, is a Chinese State Owned Enterprise and one of the top three architectural design companies in China.
BIAD employed about 3000 workers and has built the Apia Park Stadium in Samoa, Multipurpose hall in Fiji and famous for constructions in Africa, Costa Rica and some parts in South East Asia.
Another team from China is expected to carry out feasibility studies later after the comprehensive investigation team has completed their mission.
