In collaboration with the Ministry Of Health & Medical Services - Solomon Islands, Australia has delivered COVID-19 medical equipment and supplies for all nine provinces.

Recommended by the Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT), Australia compiled separate bundles of specialized medical equipment for each province known as ‘bricks.’

Each brick contains specific medical equipment required to treat and manage patients with severe COVID-19. Among other supplies, each brick includes PPE, oxygen concentrators, rapid antigen tests, and essential medicines.

“The handing over of critical life-saving equipment and consumables demonstrates the continuous unwavering commitment of the government of Australia to the government and people of Solomon Islands,” said Health Minister, Dr. Culwick Togamana.

Over the past two days, Australia’s C-27 aircraft have delivered these ‘bricks’ to Malaita, Western, Makira, and Temotu provinces. Medical equipment and supplies are also scheduled to be delivered to Choiseul, Guadalcanal, Central, Isabel, and Rennell Bellona provinces by either sea or land transport.

The delivery of these bricks will ensure provincial health workers have the medical equipment and supplies on hand to respond to and care for patients with severe COVID-19.
