The Minister of Health Dr Culwick Togamana says that based on data available, 90% of all persons who tested positive have recovered.

He says despite the relatively high national recovery rate, the numbers vary for the provinces where cases continue to rise and people are being isolated.

While such data helps in the tracking of COVID-19 infections and recoveries, the data available are only on confirmed cases of those that have been tested, they cannot count people who do not get tested for COVID-19. Experts also do not have information about the outcome of every infection.

Globally, the recovery rate is often calculated by considering the total number of discharged patients with the total COVID-19 positive patients as denominator. The output is then converted into percentage and shown as the recovery rate of a certain province or town.
