More troops from New Zealand and Tonga are in the country ahead of the Opposition's No Confidence Motion tomorrow.
The extra 170 troops will boost security around Parliament and in the capital, Honiara.Member of Parliament for East Are'are, Edward Huni'ehu, will move the motion in Parliament tomorrow.
A combination of more than 400 officers from the Solomon Islands Police Force, Participating Police Force and RAMSI military contingent will be available to help maintain law and order.
The boost of security is to prevent a repeat of last year's April riots, and as part of preparation, Solomon Islands police have been doing joint riot training with RAMSI military contingent.
Riots following the election of Snyder Rini as Prime Minister sparked wide criticisms locally against RAMSI for its handling of security at the time.
