The Ministry of Health and Medical services has recorded 349 new cases of COVID-19.

This updated figure was revealed by the Minister of Health Dr Culwick Togamana during his daily situation report on the national broadcaster, SIBC.

He says of the 349 new cases 284 are in Honiara and 65 are from the province. The cumulative total now stands at 3,667.

He says COVID-19 is now widespread in all but two of our provinces, namely Temotu and Rennell Bellona.

Currently the total number of positive cases registered in the provinces are as follows;

Malaita – 279 cases
Guadalcanal – 76 cases
Western – 116 cases
Choiseul – 9 cases
Central – 52 cases
Makira – 2 cases

The Health Minister says to date 40 deaths have occurred since the outbreak.

He also encourages the public to follow self-isolation protocols if they test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms, even if they are double vaccinated. This means staying self-isolated at home for a minimum of 10 days, or until symptoms subside.
