Police constables manning the counting station stated that they are on high alert. "There have been some minor incidents in which supporters made some provoking statements on other candidates... however, all has been taken care of," stated one constable.
The Police constable said that there is no immediate threat as yet but it is still important to have a visible presence. "There have been rumors', but nothing to be concerned about...we are prepared and attentive till the end results of the East Honiara election."
"It's good to see heavy police presence around," said Ms. Fiona Chou from East Honiara. "Makes me feel safe, the last thing we want is violence...we have had enough of that."
Solomon Times understand that the results will be known later this afternoon.
