In what most spectators expected to be the clash of the week, lived up to its rating. Both teams displayed fast flowing football that often tested the referee's fitness level.
Marist showed why they are the country's representative when they dominated the game from first half. Marist was determined to win and kept the game in Koloale half for a long period of time.Although Koloale made occasional raids at Marist, it rarely tested their keeper. The Marist defenders worked overtime. On the 20th minute Marist efforts paid off when they scored their first goal. A cross from Michael Misitana from the left wing, to Sebastian Misiga was skillfully handled by Misiga who side stepped Fred Hale to score. The goal was the only goal for the first half.
Koloale came back in the second half with a different format, and they managed to make some real breaks into Marist territories and kept pressurizing Marist in the second half. On the 60th minute of the second half, a cross from Henry Koto to the middle of the field, found Richard Anisua who then expertly placed it at the right hand corner of the Marist keeper to equalize the score. Marist created chances of their own from the left wings but Fred hale managed to keep the attacks away.
Koloale went ahead to take the lead and scored on the 75th minute. A tactical backline pass from Mahlon Houkarawa caught Marist defenders napping; the pass was received by Lency Saeni who made a good run towards the keeper, saw that the keeper was off his line, skillfully tipped the ball into the empty goal for Koloale to take the lead. Koloale seems to slack down that is when Marist pounced.
Marist did not give up. They kept fighting and created chances of their own. On the 88th minute a cross from the left wing found Benjamin Mela unmarked at the far post, to nod in the equalizer. The teams settled for a draw which now means Marist will have to win its last two games to keep their hopes of making the club championship alive.
