Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operation Ms. Juanita Matanga, as part of her provincial tour to Malaita Province, has made a courtesy visit to the Premier of Malaita Province Hon. Daniel Suidani.
DC Matanga says being the head of the provincial government it is important that the office is accorded such courtesy before she carries out her visits to police outposts in the province.
Ms. Matanga, in her discussions with the Premier, expressed her acknowledgement to the executive of the Province for their support to the office of Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, “especially during the challenging times we have been through during the COVID-19 community transmission.”
“I look forward for the same support to continue as we work collaboratively to deal with policing issues in the province.”
She said during her visit a wide range of issues will be discussed, including the current state of police infrastructure in the province and the capacity to respond to unlawful activities. It will also include leadership and the necessary resources that could improve safety and security in the province.
“This is a great challenge where we cannot deny it but through understanding and collaboration, we can find ways to address it,” she said.
Premier Suidani assured the visiting team that his government will continue to work closely with the PPC office and his team to make sure Malaita Province is a safe home for his people.
He says that while it is very challenging, such challenges can only be addressed by working together.
