Facebook, in partnership with the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) brought a free digital skills training programme to Honiara today.
The ‘Boost with Facebook’ workshop saw Facebook presenters join representative of local businesses virtually.
The three-hour workshop aims to equip Solomon Islands businesses with digital skills to successfully engage with customers locally, nationally and globally.
The workshop covered a range of topics, including the basics of Facebook and Instagram for business, how to engage and grow your online community, helpful tools to save you time such as Facebook Business Suite, and the basics of advertising.
Natalina Hong, Chief Executive Officer of SICCI, says: “We know that our members are using digital platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to grow and reach their customers, and this has only been accelerated by the pandemic.
"We are excited to be able to bring the most-up-date digital skills education through Boost with Facebook to support our businesses to harness the economic opportunity that the digital world has to offer.”
“We’re delighted to be able to launch our first Boost with Facebook in the Pacific region. We know many Solomon Islands businesses may have had a challenging year and the pandemic has shown us how important digital skills are for small businesses," says Nick McDonnell, Head of Policy for Facebook New Zealand and Pacific Islands.
"This Boost with Facebook partnership with the Solomon Island Chamber of Commerce will provide businesses with new digital skills to connect with new customers anywhere in the world.
“This investment into education and local programs is part of our on-going commitment to build small businesses that can be resilient to the ongoing challenges, because we know that when they thrive, the community thrives too.”
