With the approval of the Solomon Islands Government and subject to regulatory approval from the relevant foreign governments, Solomon Airlines is planning to operate a series of private charter flights 23 and 24 August serving Australia, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.
All flights will comply with COVID-19 safety regulations and requirements of the countries. The airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft, currently based in Brisbane, will first operate Brisbane to Honiara tomorrow 22 August on its weekly Cargo service run between Brisbane and Honiara.
The aircraft will then overnight in Honiara in preparation to operate the upcoming charter flights. On Sunday 23 August Solomon Airlines will operate a private charter from Honiara to Apia, Port Vila and return. Flight IE607 will depart Honiara at 7.15am, arriving in Apia at 1.10pm. Flight IE608 will depart from Apia at 2.10pm arriving in Port Vila at 3.15pm.
The aircraft will then return to Honiara, departing Port Vila at 4.00pm and landing at Henderson International Airport 6.00pm. On Monday 24 August Solomon Airlines will operate from Solomon Islands to Papua New Guinea and Papua New Guinea to Australia. Flight IE609 will depart Honiara at 9.00am, arriving in Port Moresby at 10.00am. The aircraft will then return to Brisbane departing Port Moresby at 10.45am and arriving at 1.40pm.
No passengers will be permitted to join the flight in Port Moresby and all Solomon Airlines crew and transit passengers will remain on board the aircraft. These special charter flights are open to returning citizens or those with the necessary approvals to meet stringent entry requirements of each country. Passengers are personally responsible for meeting all entry requirements.
