The Minister of Health and Medical services Dr Culwick Togamana says the national referral hospital (NRH) in Honiara is now compromised.

The Health Minister made the statement during his daily COVID-19 situation update yesterday.

“A total of 101 staff at the NRH have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been withdrawn from patient care,” Dr Culwick said.

“Many staff from the Ministry of Health have also tested positive and continue to work from isolation.

“Guadalcanal health teams have also reported six of its workers isolated at the GSH, with four testing positive and two awaiting results.

“Over 24 of our health workers in Honiara have also tested positive.”

The Minister says we can only pray for their recovery so that they can continue to provide critical services during this outbreak.

The Health Minister reminds the public that since the NRH is still under emergency mode two clinics are open during the lockdown - they are Rove and Kukum.
