Dear Editor,
During my work as the Senior Legal Administrative Officer to the Minister for Safety and Security in the North West Province of South Africa (prior to my appointment as the Commissioner of Police in the Solomons), I worked closely with those responsible for the consultations and drafting of the Truth and Reconciliation Bill in South Africa.
I am pleased that similar legistlation has now been introduced in the Solomon's National Parliament.
In 2001 I contributed a letter to the Editor of the Pacific Islands Report which set out my thoughts on the need for such provisions.
The letter, together with many others on the same subject, can be sourced in the archives of the Pacific Islands Report - see"Frank Short"
