Kurukuru's achievement in qualifying for the Futsal World Cup is mind boggling given the limited resources and facilities at their desposal.
While the moral support and financial assistance provided by the government is commendable, it is my hope that something concrete should be done for the development of the sport in our country for the long term.
If SIFF, with the support of other stakeholders do not act now, this may be the last time we will be represented at the World Cup in Futsal.
For the record, the formal english version of Kurukuru is the Pacific Imperial Pigeon. This name alone aptly represents the finesse and dignity with which the Kurukuru players have played their games in this sport.
All the best to the Kurukurus.
