My village life,
So unique and pristine,
I thank God for placing me here,
Where villages dotted the coastlines,
And villages spotted the mountain ridges,
Where thatched-roof houses stood free, without boundaries,
Where people freely visit each other,
With lots of laughter and smiling faces,
Where relatives are always around to lend a helping hand,
Where I always feel a sense of belonging, identity and security,
Where everybody knows everyone by name and by lineage,
A stress free life with very few worries,
Where all that matters is somewhere to lay your head and something to eat each day,
How I wish that such a life be maintained throughout all ages,
That is the Solomons village way -of- life,
May we keep it that way.
