Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare is a fool if he thinks that the U.S.,Canada,Australia, New Zealand, France,Japan,South Korea,Taiwan,The Phillipines and other Pacific nations will allow him to change the strategic balance of the entire Pacific hemisphere, for his own political ends, without serious consequence.
By allowing a PLA military presence in SI he is ultimately designating the Solomons as hostile to the security of all other Pacific nations and therefore becoming a legitimate military target in the event of conflict with China.
